WEST COAST TOUR

Starting on Thursday we hit California and the entire westie bestie. If you live out that way, please come check out the shows. The PARTY NOGG 7" with three new songs is finally out, and we'll have copies of that as well as a tour CD for sale. No shirts, no shoes. If you can't make any of the shows but still wanted to grip the merchandise, I'll put up some ordering info when we get back home if we still have any copies/etc. As soon as this tour ends, our Texas adventure begins, and then I leave for a few months in the car with Calvin, Brett and Ian, so mailorder might slow down a bit. But IRL experiences will thrive!!!! See you all soon.

idiots rule

Uh, scratch that last post. We went by WCBN tonight right at 9 to realize that we were one day late. Even though this has been set up for weeks, I somehow spaced out so hard and thought that the date was today, Thursday the 19th, when every single email and correspondence about it clearly states nothing besides Wednesday the 18th. I am a total idiot. I do this shit with flights, birthdays, important things, etc all the time, and there's no excuse. Supreme apologies to Jason, WCBN and anyone who might have been excited or cared about us jamming on the airwaves. We were so stoked about it and both of us feel pretty badly about it. I feel stupid as fuck about it because it's my fault entirely.

Underwater Circumstances

We're playing a set on WCBN FM 88.3 in Ann Arbor tonight at 10PM. In town or on the interweb, tune in and check it out. Far away, busy or lazy wait until tomorrow when I post an mp3 of anything worth hearing that comes about from tonight's jam. Here's a photo of our last show taken by Amber Fellows. Who knew red was our color? And here's a new song, which somehow sounds a ton like "Tonight Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins, maybe with some Alice In Chains undercurrents. What's wrong with me? Someone help me feel less like an empty shell of a problem's dream. I mean... ENJOY!

I Could Never Make It In Your House

shadows of nyght

uh...

the patriot "act"

teens

Also, here's a new mix to try to sum up the mid-winter murk/non-clear/anti-clarity almost-there to sunshine and touring again times.
The Cookies "I Never Dreamed"
John Cale "Gideon's Bible"
Brett threw this on a mixtape for me maybe 8 years ago. I always come back to it not remembering how i ever let it go. Kevin Ayers "Girl On A Swing"
Aran's jam of lyfe.
Forever Amber "For A Very Special Person"
Still so hung up on this record. I can't get behind the blog-style of just uploading an entire record for some reason, even though Forever Amber has never actually been in print or available. Somehow I feel like a song at a time is better in this case, like a controlled poison dosage, but anti-poison. Lifening serum?
Neil Young & Crazy Horse "Danger Bird"
Animal Collective "Leaf House"
This is from a live show sometime in '07, around the time they were working out songs for the record that just came out. I've been having a lot of conversations with people about Animal Collective lately, ranging from friends of mine who have worked with them to people just hearing them for the first time to my parents, etc.. It's kind of nuts how much this band has done, but also kinda nuts how their accomplishments are playing out in the context of the music-listening landscape of the 00's. What I mean by that is... holy fuck, this band's music is good, and good in a time when being good is different from being known or acknowledged by your public, or sometimes even listened to. Talked about more than heard, heard more than supported, supported more than loved, loved more than understood, and somehow AC is all of the above. At this point I no longer feel like I have a stance of opinion on this band. You know? Like, did people ever have shit to say about how lame the Velvet Underground's cover art was? Probably. Or were some people bummed when "Closer" sounded mad different from "Unknown Pleasures". Likely, yes. How amazing to be in the same time as something new happening and feel it like the future.
Elyse "Houses"
Awesome private-press folk lady jam. Neil Young on lead guitar. Vetiver did an astonishing true-to-form cover of this song on one of their records.
The Lykes Of Us "Tell Me Why Your Light Shines"
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA this band is called "The Lykes Of Us"@!!!!! They're from Detroit, surprise.
Ora "Whitch"
Neu "Schone Welle (Nice Wave)"
One day as a lark we put on Neu 4 at work and proceeded to have a collective face-melt flip-out over the insane rollerskate kraut ice cream cone in your mind vibes of almost the entire thing. My favorite record of 2012!
Sonic Youth "Disappearer"

Irma Thomas "Time Is On My Side"

Running Time: 46min 09sec

Download the mix here.

SUPREME SHOW OF LYFEEEE!!!

Killer show on Monday (my Dad's birthday!!!) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Probably the last show before tour, so if you're in the area, please come out.
As extra incentive to those who can/bonus parting gift to those who can't, I'm including this amazing mystery jam mp3. WHAT THE FUCK COULD IT BE????? IS IT A SONG? IS IT YOUR LIFE UNFOLDING?? IS IT AN EXCITEMENT WRAPPED IN EXCAVATION? A CAVE FULL OF BUNNIES WHO NEED BAT WINGS TO LIVE????? Only one way to find out.

ANYTHING/ANYTIME

My last full day in NYC for a while. Getting out of here for so many weeks of touring and different projects it's almost a blur. Yesterday was a super busy fluster, as today promises to be, complete with a bloody bikers vs. college kids brawl at Palace Bar, then a quick peace out to another spot where the DJ was killin' me. That song "Who Do You Love?"... Murder. I'm so excited for the future right now.

Here's a morning jam fresh from dreams of dogs fighting to the death on the lawn of a Michigan vetrenarian's office and a bunch of weird spaces that don't exist. I built it off of a sample I took of Leah playing the vibes yesterday for her band The Bridesmaids. More on that later, though. For now, I'll say it seems like doing more things in the morning makes sense to me than it did before. Even out of sick dreams and weird times, maybe there's a seperate focus that fades with the day? I'm gonna try it out.
