Telecommunicate

I have a couple of rad shows coming up this week, to be announced tomorrow. Last night someone asked me if this (aka this band) was me going through a psychedelic phase. I don't take offense to the question or anything, but when people are like "woah, that shit's trippy!" I just don't get it. It all sounds like pop songs to me, even the drones and drowned bird calls. As a reaction/self-challenge/whatever I'm working on an EP of one-take, one-microphone, one-instrument, all live songs. The point is to try to capture the same thing that's there in my head with a thousand delay pedals and hours of editing with one shot. I'll put them all up sometime in the days to come. This was the first attempt:

Hall Of Mirror Glades
I am constantly thinking about things that fade away immediately. I had an idea for a book that was a documentation of every single thought I had in the course of a day, a detailed and complete depiction of every single thing I saw, considered, smelled, felt, realized, wondered, etc. in the course of 24 hours. It's fully impossible, not to mention less than captivating, but the idea is interesting. Imagine every possible path you could walk down or every millionth-of-a-second thought that could be an idea or could change your whole life so much depending on how it lands. Bad first impressions, tainted water supplies, off kilter ache in left knee, haircut anxiety, unfinished dream, memory about spring six years ago, sexual fantasy fragment 1 of 4 billion, what rhymes with bloodstream, melody topping the charts of that instant and gone for good in the future that's already gone.Thoughts that are sticking involve so many half-done projects, a violent and interested reaction to new popular albums, Kanye West's fucked up new one mostly. I have some new songs, but I wanted to wait until there were a few together, as the themes are starting to blend and blur. Michelle was visiting this weekend and we entertained the kitten adoption booth at a pet store for about twenty seconds. The kitty locked eyes with me and communicated a look of fierce meowser stern-ness, almost as if he began a freestyle cautioning me to be real with my emotions and not even step if I wasn't ready for all the joy and pain, the sunshine and the rain.
